Eltham Park Living Room
“I want a family room where all the kids’ toys can go away, and it’s and adults only room at night.” This young Eltham Park family had just bought their forever home and were eager to make it their own. With two energetic boys, the space needed to cater to their family’s active lifestyle while providing a sanctuary for the parents in the evenings. Durability and longevity were key, as the room needed to handle both playtime chaos and relaxation.
The couple wanted a space that worked for family time during the day but transformed into an inviting, grown-up retreat at night. The furniture had to be both beautiful and resilient, capable of withstanding wear and tear. They also wanted the TV included in the design but without making it the room’s focal point. Maintaining and restoring the home’s original features was essential, but the final result had to feel fresh and contemporary – giving the impression that every design element belonged.
This project involved creating custom built-ins for both display and storage, ensuring the room was zoned for adults, children, and family spaces. The design allowed the room to work hard, whether for playing, relaxing, or working, while maintaining an atmosphere of tranquillity and calm throughout. Hues of blue and neutral textures delivered the calmness, while ample storage to put toys out of site offered evening tranquillity.
